So cold even a Fish needs a scarf...

"Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a
conversation if it didn't change once in a while."

Conversation...

Conversation was never begun at once, nor in a hurried manner. No one was quick with a question, no matter how important, and no one was pressed for an answer. A pause giving time for thought was the truly courteous way of beginning and conducting a conversation. Silence was meaningful with the Lakota, and his granting a space of silence to the speech-maker and his own moment of silence before talking was done in the practice of true politeness and regard for the rule that,
"thought comes before speech."

What is man without the beasts?

"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected."

~Chief Seattle (1784-1866)

Sunset Christmas eve..

Early Morning Inspiration...

Here are some other photos from this morning...

Stung by the splendour of a sudden thought

"Stung by the splendour of a sudden thought"
~Robert Browning

Right outside the door, or in this case my office window, is where I find inspiration today. Sometimes the hardest place to become inspired is at home, which if you work from home as most freelancers do it can really hinder your creativity. How do you become inspired by the things you see everyday? It is easy to be creative in an exotic location, or a new unfamiliar place where there is activity all around you begging to be discovered and explored. When you are working from home, what is there to get you going, and how do you find that creative spark in your daily life. Believe it our not, setting the clocks back gave me a bit of a spark. I am an early riser and usually out the door to feed our horse early in the morning. In the summertime the sun is pretty well up by 6 AM and the day already in somewhat full swing. The winter is a different story. This winter I vowed to get up long before the sun to get things done early. So now every morning I watch the sun rise from my office window. Usually I am drinking my first cup of coffee catching up on the nights news and happenings before feeding the horse and starting the day. Recently I have been moved out of my office chair by the first light. I have begun to to explore the early light on Mt. Kearsarge which is directly outside my window, albeit an obstructed view, luckily or I would get hit by NH's view tax, a different story. So a short distance up the road from my house there is an open field with pretty much a clear view of the mountain. So at 6:30 AM this morning and 11 degrees outside I set up the tripod to see what would happen. Here is my inspiration for the day. Right Outside the Door...
